Smart MCQ Strategies

Multiple choice questions have patterns. Learn to exploit them:

1. Elimination Method

Even if you do not know the answer, you can often eliminate 1-2 wrong options. This improves your probability from 25% to 50% or even higher.

2. Read the Question Before Options

Try to think of the answer BEFORE looking at options. This prevents confusion from similar-looking choices.

3. Watch for Absolute Words

Options with "always", "never", "all", "none" are often wrong. Real-world answers are usually nuanced.

4. The Longest Option Rule

In many exams, the longest option tends to be correct because the test maker needs to make it precise and qualifying.

5. Negative Marking Strategy

If negative marking is 1/3 or 1/4 of marks, attempt a question only if you can eliminate at least one option confidently.

6. Review Your Answers

If time permits, review flagged questions. But do NOT change answers unless you are very sure - your first instinct is usually correct.
